Eating out
There are some phenomenal places to eat in Kavos, places that you’ll eat in and wish they had back in the UK. The advantage of Corfu is that all produce is sourced fresh locally and vegetables are full of flavour from being grown in natural sunlight.
A 3 course meal will cost approximately 12-15€ and if you can’t finish it the chef’s will happily put it in a doggy bag for you (for late night munchies)

Fast Food
The strip is full of fast food joints including a Subway (Sub of the day 2.90€). Nikos Kebab house (opposite futures nightclub) is open until approximately 8am (often 24hrs) and offers Pizza slices at 3€ and a Greek speciality “the pitta gyros” – for 5€. Perfect as you roll out of the club!
Out and about in Kavos
Quad bike Hire: 30€ per quad bike – this includes insurance and enough fuel to get you to the petrol station. A quad will cost you approximately 10€ to fill to to the top which will get you a good 60km. Keep you eye on the petrol tank if you’ve been driving for sometime. The last thing you want to do is run out of gas!
Moped Hire: 15€ per moped – this also includes insurance, minimal fuel and a crash helmet
Beach Buggy Hire: 50€ – although it has “beach” in the title – DO NOT take these on the beach, you’ll be liable for a cleaning and repair bill. Remember, they will have your driving licence and wont return it unless they are happy the buggy is returned in the condition it was hired.
For all rentals a provisional driving licence is required, some locations will require a full driving licence. Please Please Please, DO NOT drink and drive! Driving under the influence of alcohol will put you or other members of the public at risk and if arrested could lead to a prison sentence.
Jet Ski Hire – Jet Ski’s and motor boats can be hired for 50€
Jet Ski: 30 minutes hire
Boat: 2 hour hire
Pedalo Hire – 15.00€ and you can go wherever you like, just don’t try and pedal to Greek mainland like these guys
Transfers and Taxis
Transfers are more than likely to be included within your holiday package. However if they’re not you have a number of options on how you get from the Airport to Kavos. The airport is 60km from Kavos, approximately an 1hr and 15minutes by coach.
Taxi Price: 60-80€ (4 seats) 100€ (6 seats)
Coach Prices from 15€
A transfer company we recommend is Resort Hoppa – Resort Hoppa also have private hire vehicles (Taxis) should you need these.
Chilling Poolside
If you’re kicking back by the pool, soaking up the rays you’re going be thirsty and hungry. Many hotels have strict rules that you can only eat and drink items that have been purchased by the hotel bar. Please respect this.
Some hotels have Free Sunbeds, some you have to pay for. Expect to pay no more than 2.00€ per day
Air Conditioning
You may have seen that your hotel has air conditioning, this is likely to be a chargable service of between 5.00€ and 10.00€ per day. Do not sleep with your air conditioning on 16 degrees! As you sleep you sweat and the air conditioning will likely give you a chill and leave you talking like Frank Butcher for the rest of the holiday.
Safety Deposit Boxes
Safety deposit boxes are available at many hotels and travel agent at approximately 50.00€ per week
Travellers Cheques
Some of you may wish to bring travellers cheques with you. There are plenty of places to exchange these but expect to pay around 2-3% as a handling fee
ATM Machines
Are there ATM Machines? – YES
Do they work? – Sometimes (70% of the time they have cash available)
ATM machines can be very hit and miss in Kavos. Do not rely on these as your source of cash, especially if you are bringing money on a cash passport!
Travel Insurance
2 words – BUY IT! If you think you may be covered on your parents’ insurance, check the policy, it’s likely that your parents have to be on the same trip to use a family policy. All medical centres on the strip are private which is why travel insurance is key. Imagine treading on a piece of glass and having to pay a £500 medical bill! You can get a quote here, remember to get an excess waiver, this means there would be no excess to pay should you have to claim.
